Winter tyres


According to the Luxembourg Highway Code, class M1 vehicles (motor vehicles with a maximum of eight seats in addition to the driver's seat) driven on public roads in Luxembourg must be fitted with winter tyres (M+S, M.S., M&S) on all wheels of the vehicle in winter conditions, i.e. black ice, compacted snow, slush or patches of ice or frost ( Grand-Ducal Regulation of 10 September 2012, Art. 160 of the Luxembourg Highway Code).

    Driving a motor vehicle on public roads in conditions of black ice, compacted snow, slush or patches of ice or frost, without tyres fulfilling, depending on the vehicle category in question, the specifications set out respectively in point 2.2 of ECE Regulation No. 30 relating to the Uniform provisions concerning the approval of pneumatic tyres for motor vehicles and their trailers or point 2.2.3 of ECE Regulation No. 54 relating to the Uniform provisions concerning the approval of pneumatic tyres for commercial vehicles and their trailers, and featuring the marking set out in point 3.1.5 of these regulations (M+S, M.S. or M&S tyres), or fulfilling the specifications set out in point 2.11 of Regulation ECE No. 117 relating to the Uniform provisions concerning the approval of tyres with regard to rolling sound emissions and to adhesion on wet surfaces and featuring the marking set out in points 4.2.6 (M+S/M.S./M&S) or 4.2.7 (*)
