In Luxembourg, lorries in transit heading to Germany and France are banned from driving on Sundays and public holidays (Grand-Ducal regulation of 19 July 1997).
This applies to lorries in transit with a total permissible mass of over 7,500kg (with or without a trailer). This does not apply to lorries in transit heading to Belgium and transport within the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
The driving ban comes into force the evening before the day in question.
Specifically, lorries in transit are banned:
- from 21.30 on Saturdays and on the eve of public holidays to 21.45 on Sundays and public holidays, for lorries heading to France;
- from 23.30 on Saturdays and on the eve of public holidays to 21.45 on Sundays and public holidays, for lorries heading to Germany.

Roadside parking
During the periods mentioned above, parking on the public highway (rest areas, etc.) is also banned for lorries subject to the driving ban.
Fine
The Police response is an increased presence on the motorway network.
Drivers who fail to comply with the ban face a potential fine of €250.
