Fake President scam

This scam (also known as the "bank transfer scam") mainly targets companies. The aim of the scam is to trick the employee into making an unauthorised money transfer. An impostor generally contacts a company employee via phone or e-mail, pretending to be the CEO or a trusted partner of the company.

They will have gathered information about the company in advance to support their credibility if the target employee asks questions. Moreover, the scammer demands absolute confidentiality from the employee.

They then ask the employee to make an urgent payment from the company account to another account, usually abroad.
