The person who receives, processes and records your "113" emergency call at the National Response Centre is called "113 calltaker". He or she will guide you through the conversation and will ask you the questions required to assess the situation and react appropriately.

It is up to the calltaker 113 to decide which questions to ask. Some questions are imposed by the dispatching system depending on the situation, others depend on the judgement and experience of the 113 calltaker.

If a caller wishes to remain anonymous, the calltaker 113 will take note of this and pass on the information to the unit concerned. However, in order to prevent abuse, the caller's identity will be requested.
